Medicare

Q. I want a Select Policy. Can I still use my family Dr. ? Yes. you have no restrictions on any Dr. Any Doctor who accepts Medicare can accept a select policy, there is no difference.

Q. What if I don’t get a supplement when I turn 65 ? You are not obligated to have a supplement. You just assume the financial responsibility not covered by Medicare.

Q. I am turning 65 and have very poor health. Can I still get a supplement ? Yes. You have a six (6) month window call the Open Enrollment Period in which you do not need to answer any health or smoking questions. After that medical questions can be asked of you before issuing a policy. We can help you with different programs.

Q. I have a disability and have Medicare, can I obtain a Supplement ?  Yes. We have supplements available for those under age 65 and on disability.

 Q. What if I am away from home, can I still use my Select Policy?  Yes. Your Select policy goes any where you do. If you are at home, then they would prefer that you utilize a network hospital.

Annuities

Q. What if I need my money before the end of the contract ?  You may request a surrender of the accumulated amount. Like a CD or Mutual Fund, you may or may not have a surrender charge applied.

Q. If I need only some of the money, can I get it ?  Yes. You may access a percentage, normally 10 > 15% per year with out a charge. A CD by contrast does not allow any access to funds.

Long Term Care

Q. Will Medicare cover my Long Term Care needs?  No. Medicare does not consider LTC a medical need. They will only pay for medical services that you need, not any chronic care items.

Q. What will the VA provide for me? They do not provide LTC benefits for veterans. If you are in a Medical situation that requires long term hospitalization such as Muscular Dystrophy, they might if your illness is service connected. Do not count on the VA to help you.

Life Insurance

Q. Am I am to old for life insurance.  Maybe? Some policies will go to issue age in the 80’s. It will be expensive but may be the best method to transfer funds through the estate.

Q. What if both my spouse & I want insurance?  A good choice may be a survivor type of policy that will cover both spouses at a reduced cost. It then will pay benefits at the passing of the last survivor. Great item for Estate planning because of taxes.

Medicaid

Q. Is there a stigma about being on Medicaid?  No. You will be receiving support from taxes that you have paid for during your working life. No one will know except the financial office where your money is coming from.

Q. Will my family have any control over my care ? They will not have direct control, however they can work with the case worker to provide the care you need.

Q. What if I have to many assets? We, along with your attorney, can work with you regarding your assets to get them inline. You are allowed to do quite a bit to realign your assets. This is done all prior to the application.

Prescriptions

Q. Are the drugs from Canada safe to use.? Yes if they are purchased from a reputable company. They will have the same manufacturer that you would have in the States. As you would do here, check the safety seal on the bottle.

Q. Are all of the drugs less expensive? No. We have found that many times, you can purchase generic drugs with a discount card from your supplement at a lower cost locally. Do comparison shopping from several different places. One may give you better pricing one one drug and not on another.
